Description The lines in the photograph that this painting was based on were so pleasing, that I couldn't resist painting it. It is hanging in my living room, and I'm not sure if I'll ever sell the original! This was a based on a photograph that I took of a man taking a picture of the ocean from a seaside cliff near Mendocino, California. I changed less about the original photograph than I usually do in my art, except for the flowers in the foreground. I abstracted the flowers that were in the original picture by using oil sticks to draw the stems and base of the flowers, and applied the white flower tops with a single stroke, to give a childish quality.

This current series was produced in 2008 - 2009. It explores several themes: the human expression, the nature of light, texture, the background as a subject in its own right, and using a variety of techniques for applying oil paint.
